New attack on troops in Kabul

A suicide car bomber has blown himself up near a convoy of US-led coalition troops in Afghanistan, wounding at least six people, officials said.

The bomber attacked the convoy outside Camp Phoenix, a US base near the capital, Kabul, they said.

The US-led coalition confirmed the attack and said three of the wounded were soldiers.

The Taleban said recently they were targeting Kabul and the city has seen many lethal bombings in recent months.

A statement from the US-led coalition said three Afghan civilians and three coalition service members were wounded.

In June, a police bus was bombed in the capital killing up to 35 people.

That was the most devastating bomb attack in Kabul since the Taleban were ousted in 2001.

Taleban rebels said they had carried out the attack.
