Hamas Activist Killed in Gaza, Palestinian Authority Freezes Islamic Charity Founds
An Israeli air attack killed a Hamas activist on Thursday night with a missile in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian witnesses and medics said. They identified the man as Hamdi al Kalakh, 35, an operative in the military wing of Hamas, and added three other Palestinians were wounded in the attack in the southern Gaza town of Khan Yunis. **Israeli Troops Fire at Palestinian Youths*** Also, on the streets West Bank town of Jenin - Israeli soldiers firing rubber bullets at stone-throwing youths. Palestinians were protesting at a crackdown by the Israeli military following a bomb attack in Jerusalem 10 days ago in which 21 Jewish settlers died. In other Zionist violence, at least 13 Palestinians were injured in clashes with Israeli forces in the West Bank town of Nablus, and Palestinian police opened fire on Hamas members firing rockets on Jerusalem from the north of the Gaza Strip. It is the first time a rocket has reached a major Israeli city since the start of the Intifadha in September 2000. No one was injured but the blast further raised tensions on the volatile border between Gaza and Zionist state. **Palestinian Authority Freezes Islamic Charity Founds*** The Palestinian Authority is reported to have frozen several dozen bank accounts allegedly linked to Hamas, sparking off protests: the move has affected many Palestinians dependent on the money to live. Some took to the streets of Gaza and Rafah after banks refused to cash in their welfare checks.
