Israeli Troops Kill Palestinian
Israeli occupation troops have shot dead at least one Palestinian civilian during house raids in the occupied West Bank. Israeli forces invaded the northern village of Illar in the early hours of Thursday, Palestinian security officials said. The victim was Zahir Ashkar, a leader of al-Quds Brigades in the city of Tulkarim, north of the village, reported Aljazeera's correspondent. Troops carried out house-to-house searches in the village. They also destroyed a building they claimed was being used by resistance fighters as shelter, the correspondent said. It is unclear whether forces detained any Palestinians. **PHOTO CAPTION*** A Palestinians boy watches an Israeli soldier as he conducts a patrol during a military operation in a refugee's camp in the West Bank town of Tulkarm July 28, 2004.
